One is shojo romance other is shonen but I felt the same watching both. I mean the sensation of platonic love with both sides being afraid of confessions and making first move. These are not dynamic love stories with sudden changes of heart and quarrels but slowpaced natural development of close relationship.

They both feature girls that are naive and wayyyy too nice compared to a normal girl. Both are cute romances that take awhile to play out and feature both characters trying to tell the other how they feel and failing. They have similar tones and audience I think.
