Very similar set up, Hot girl appears, she has magically powers, they start living with each other. Later other magical girls appear. They have adventures and battle. While the main character (a simple man) and the magical girl have a funny relationship etc.
The beginning of both episodes is basically the same. Both start out with a teen kid that meets a magical girl (or goddess). They get kicked out of their apartment because its "no girls allowed" and are forced to look for a new place to live. The Magic girl (or goddess) in both shows saves the day by using her powers to find a place to live. At the same time the main character starts to show signs of love for the girl. Sekirei also has elements from other popular shows tossed in, for example Fate/Stay Night and Elfen Lied. So the show is not

The 2 actually have a lot in common - the first episode of Sekirei has the same plot as the first 2 episodes of Ah! My Goddess, Musubi has a very similar personality to Belldandy, both have the main love interest(s) have superpowers, and both have at least some harem elements (Sekirei has more than Ah! My Goddess, obviously), just to name a few things the two have in common.
However, Sekirei has fight scenes, whereas Ah! My Goddess does not; also, it's debatable if Skuld and Urd have feelings for Keiichi, whereas it's obvious that the rest of Minato's Sekirei have feelings for him.
