Both focus on a young girl getting caught up in strange events beyond their understanding, and being friends with another girl thats the polar opposite of her as well too and also both share some really kino looking art,animation and character designs too.

It really doesn't seem like it at first (or even while you watch either anime), but both Hells and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are about hope. Sure, there's a lot of crazy cool artsy experimental styles that will be a feast for your eyes, and with some visual reminders that the world has plenty of suffering to offer, they are probably far from the most wholesome anime you will ever see. But the main character and her convictions will probably inspire you into believing there is hope and that there is something you can do.
