Both of these come from the same studio, so they have a lot in common... most noticeably the weird frog and the quirky sense of humor. It borders on being ridiculous, so I don\'t suppose it\'s for everybody, but if this sort of humor suits you then you\'re in for a treat.
Both made by SHAFT and both offers the schoolroom comedy with randomness as well as the well planned storyline.
It is VERY similar to Negima!? in many ways. It was made by SHAFT, features the same craziness that each one offers, even has the whole 'kid teacher' thing going on each with its own ways on making it work out.

Shaft's Negima is very much a spiritual successor to Pani Poni in terms of style and, when it doesn't take itself seriously, content. The humour is very much on par with PPD and its best moments could easily be mistaken for either show.
Save for the fantasy and harem elements, both have the same concept of a kid that somehow turned into a teacher in a middle/high school, with a group of quirky students. Both were made by the same studio as well so you might like the other series if you liked one of them.
