The Dangers of My Heart is like if you gender-swapped Komi and and Tadano, made the pacing a little bit more even, and the themes a little bit more mature and grounded. It starts off with Ichikawa being a complete edgelord--he wants to apparently "kill" Yamada, because he hates popular girls. But this fades away quickly when he realizes her kind facade isn't a facade at all, she's just genuinely a very nice person. Although Komi Can't Communicate isn't EXPLICITLY a romance, both take place in a school with all of the school romance cliches (valentines/white day, meeting up over summer break, culture festival etc.) and have a main character that starts off as an introverted nobody and learns to open up through their relationship with the other MC.
