There are significant parallels between these two shows in relation to storytelling & characters.
Character wise, Frieren & Kino are both vagabond travellers by nature; who share rather similar dispositions and personalities. They can be stoic, kind, charitable, sometimes aloof, and yet won't hesitate to be decisive, cold and will be willing to kill when needed. They're both taught and trained by a master who impart rather important philosophies and lessons when it comes to combat & life lessons.
They also travel with a companion(s) as they journey around various lands; sometimes lending help to others and learning about the plight of the people.

Kino and Frieren, calm and capable, are travelers on a journey, sometimes helping people they encounter on their travels.
They observe people, the culture, how they live, but never get swept up by it, sticking to their own way of living.
Both series have a laidback atmosphere with the occasional battle, and make one consider the ephemerality of life and how precious it is.
The stories they hear, the people they meet, the relationships they build however long or brief, the lessons they learn along the way, all become treasured memories.
Both shows are about a main female lead character traveling around going from place to place exploring the world and meeting all the different types of people along the way.
Frieren and Kino are two highly capable and skilled women. Both travel around, exploring and interacting with the world.
The storytelling styles of the two films have many similarities, each episode is one or more stories told and shown excellently.
Frieren's world is somewhat brighter than Kino's world.
