Both stories introduce us to a group of girls forming a rock band. Although Bocchi the Rock! focuses more on comedy and the reactions caused by the extreme shyness of the protagonist, personal and interpersonal conflicts are also discussed. These conflicts are treated in Girls Band Cry in a more adult way. The story places emphasis on these types of conflicts that develop the relationships and way of being of the protagonists, and channeling them into their songs.

both include a band, both got girls, both talk about interesting life stories. THOUGH GBS has a bit more personal traumas involved, and is a bit more emotional, but I love it

Both are musical animes. Bocchi's music is closer to Girls Band Cry than K-On I would say as Bocchi & Girls Band Cry have more of a rock theme. Girls Band Cry is way more goth and dramatic than bocchi, which is more comedy focused. But I heavily enjoyed both!

If you like Bocchi the Rock! but want heavier music, Girls Band Cry is the anime for you. Assemble metalhead weebs, this is a show that represents the struggles, trust, and the complicated dynamic of a heavy metal band. Don't miss out on the phenomenal music written to tell an authentic life story of everyone struggling together with the dream of playing at the Bodukan. These 5 girls want to become the next Megadeth.

CGI heavy but the music is quite decent. The plot however has a few elements that are less desired but the overall show is not that bad.

Girl band anime with excellent, expressive 3D animation. A character-driven story of personal growth with more angst and conflict between band members. It is a drama unlike Bocchi, but it still has a pretty good sense of humor which is aided by some really good character animation.
