The main character in each series is a spikey-haired idiot who repeatedly saves people regardless of who they are - friend, enemy, ambiguous. Whoever needs saving at the time, it doesn't matter what their status is, it's no reason to influence whether they should be saved. - Both shows have really similar characters. The main lead is a boy with extreme unluckiness whose strong sense of justice and fight to protect the innocent people regardless what they might lose. Misaka's appearance quite reminds me about Ai Mori, but while Ai doesn't have powers at the beginning, she has more roles and delivers more narrative monologue throughout the story.
- Both story also involves level of powers and the type of powers itself are quite unusual among the shounen genres (In TLoU it's the power to turn something into something else, while in ToAru it's magic
