They're both about competitive figure skating and include romance elements.
A Japanese figure skater's preparation for a world-class event is interrupted by the sudden arrival of a cute foreign boy into their life. Hard work and some romance follow as the pair work together to take the gold medal and achieve their dreams.
In both animes, we have a japanese professional skater who is trying to get into and win competitions on an international level (in YoI we have the Grand Prix Final, in Ginban Kaleidoscope it's the Winter Olympics).
Yuri and Tazusa are one of the best skaters in Japan in their respective shows and are in a slump at the beginning due to failures in their careers, however, it's at that point when a new person unexpectedly enters their lives.
