Heartwarming dramas. Take place when robots are being made to replace and fulfill role of deceased people. Provided with the artificial memories of real people (and also provided with something called "emotion"), they slowly build relationship with people.
Both involve robots whose purpose is to be of service to humans who are in the process of mourning a loved one.
Hal is moreso about the robot trying to help the mourning person, whereas Hotori is about a robot who makes a friend while still in the process of being prepared for the mourning persons.
