What happens when the world falls apart? Both works look at the degradation of society, one going into a post apocalyptic time period and the other a society where everyone's life is controlled by the government. While seemingly dissimilar, there are overlapping features such as similarities in the art styles, but some thematic elements, not to mention Akira is considered one of the works which is influential on the next generation of Anime and Manga creators.

Both involve a complex storyline and cyberpunk environments. The two share the same psychological entities and include persistent male and female leads. The Psycho-Pass environment and characters are a lot more controlled than Akira's where there is a crumbling government and more of a supernatural sense. Nonetheless, the two are very similar with the amount of violent gore used and the lack of random subplots. Their stories stay on track the entire time and never stray away from being complicated or gripping.
In both anime society is corrupted, hawe a lot of action and story is complex.Tere are a lot of ciberpunk in both anime. In both anime main antagonists are fighting inside themselfs and going mad little by little.Main protagonists are fighting against corrupted society. Both anime is for older audience.

fantasy and cyberpunk setting in a dystopian future. dark colors and gloomy setting, the lights of the city give a feeling of greed and mystery. the differences are many, but the feelings given by the word building of the series are very similar
Both focus around corrupt governments and rebelious individuals standing up to them and philsophy elements and of course the ultra violence too.
