where one is samuri and the other is ninjia, both have a similar feel to it. Basilisk is more mature but same touching story of warriors fighting for what they believe for in the end. Rurouni Kenshin is longer and older then basilisk but same intense action and unpredictable story plot that will keep you on edge. Each foe is different and each again his their own special combat ability which are a blast to watch. Not much fanasty involved i.e energy balls or summoned creatures and will suit a mature audience... have a go

Both have a great story as well as a love story. Both play in the old japan and are very mature and have great action. They will also make you think and sad.
I´m almost sure that you will like the other anime :)
