12 Kingdoms takes place in an historical fantasy world full of demons and mythical creatures while Kenshin's world is a lot more realistic in the Meiji era of Japan. But both stories rely heavily on the history of their world. I was reminded of Rurouni Kenshin while watching 12 kingdoms. If you like one, you might like the other.
