Legs, swords, elegance, and a focus on interpersonal relationships. Similar character designs, competition between characters, artsy scenes. Both are fairly unique series but share many visual and thematic elements.
Swordfights, unique aesthetic involving phisically impossible architecture and protagonists that both are trying to find themselves and willing to protect another, like Utena trying to protect Anthy and Phos trying to protect Cinnabar. There's a slightly pseudo-yuri content too.
They're similar in how artistic and appealing the style is. The themes of change in both reminded me of each other. I personally enjoyed them-and while not that similar-I'm sure anyone who liked Utena will appreciate this gem as well.
