These Satoshi Kon's movies resemble each other in many aspects. Both tell private lifes of the stars. It's sometimes hard to distinguish reality and fiction in both of them (although in MA, thanks to the different centuries presented, it's a lot easier than in the PB). Drawing style is just the same, atmosphere as well, mysterious, awkward. Both are half-realistic, very psychological and kept in the same style. And definitely, both are recommended.
- Story about an actress life.
- Chiyoko become actress to find her crush, Mima become actress to find her self. now which one you need to find first? your crush or your self? whichever it is, you'll have to move through events in life, both shitty and happy ones, before you can find them. both Chiyoko and Mima also experience this.
- Satoshi's remark is very thick. you'll subconsciously make an assumption that both movie directed by the same person when you see the actress.
Experimental character studies of deeply troubled individuals in the entertainment business, both got similar visual styles and gorgeous animation along with a similar abstract manner of storytelling
Both movies are directed by Satoshi Kon, so they have similar art and character designs. They both deal with the lives of actresses, using a complex narrative that combines both reality and fiction. The main difference between them is their genre, as Perfect Blue is more thriller-oriented, while Millennium Actress is a drama.

Both movies mix the reality with fiction so you never know what exactly is real.
