The series follows a former mafia hitman who left his violent past behind after falling in love and choosing a life as an ordinary citizen. While his old gang resented their departure, they now believe that the MC has become weak. That is however far from the truth. Both MC are still formidable and instead of using their strength in the mafia, they use it to protect their family and community to live a quiet, humble life.
If you think Sakamoto Days is good, then you shouldn't be skipping out on Gokushufudou in all its forms: manga, anime, even the TV drama. They're like carbon copies of each other, but in a good and wholesome way.
Both anime follow the lives of retired hitmen/yakuza who gave up on their life of crime to become a loving husband/father, most certainly by the pressure of their spouse that disavows them to return to violence.
