Both anime include time travel with a handshake as their main gimmick. It is not explained why but that's how it is. If you want to watch some unjustified time travel action, if you liked one of these two, then go watch the other one.

one's a job , another's street gangs/ fights.
both are highly entertaining,
tokyo revengers has more action which is mostly delinquent oriented which is rare to be written in this decade.

Both anime deal with going to the past
Both anime deal with trying to solve problems in the past
Also if you are going to watch tokyo revengers only for the "going to the past" plotline, don't because it's a lot more than that, you could even say that it's not even 10% of the plot.
