They are side stories to their respective shows, and they both have a slightly more melancholic and emotional feel to them. Both of these shows share the painful truth that many people face early in their love life that loving someone can hold the other person back even when it's not entirely either person's fault. I just wish that they both had full series devoted to their stories.

Kyoto Animation has done an excellent job on these 2 works, side-stories of the different series, to tell a complete story that stands on its own, and that address with brilliance very similar themes.
In a melancholic and sometimes even emotional atmosphere, Tomoya Okazaki and Nozomi Kasaki must both become aware that their attachment/love for a person (Mizore/Tomoyo) can sometimes prevent this talented person from taking off according to their skills. Even if the approach is different, the quay-perfect realization of Kyoto Animation with an impressive attention to detail, especially in the visuals, give a rather similar spirit to the 2 works.
