Adult male protagonist lives through life lethargically. He falls in love with a woman who has her life together, great job, beautiful, and caring. He confesses to her, but she rejects him at first. He begins interacting with a mysterious teenage girl who helps him find motivation and self-confidence. Both girls are high school dropouts and ran away from home. In HigeHiro the mysterious girl moves into the main character's apartment. Whereas in Yesterday she appears at random times throughout the show. The same younger girl to older guy kind of relationship, where both young girls were high school drop outs while the guy has a successful career....differences were, guy started out as a freeter before becoming a professional , while in Higesoru, the guy works as a salaryman, when it come to the girls one used to be a "HO" before settling down as household helper / part-timer while the girl from other anime did started out as a part-timer.

Life can be dry, though this wasn't the case for two very dull-infected human beings who found the light in their lives through a much younger irrational dropout high schooler girl.
Of what is basically the same thing, Higehiro and Sing Yesterday are dramas that take on some dude with not a lot and the relationship he creates with this dropout they are acquainted with. The two anime are also very prone to shove cheesy drama in some creation of a love triangle between them to spice things up I suppose.

The first episode of "HigeHiro" reminded me about "Sing "Yesterday" For Me" as both give the same aura of having a gloomy atmosphere with quite an innovative premise. The characters and how the story progresses, as well as ambiance, felt quite similar.
So...

Both animes are good and has a relationship story between a young girl and an employee
This anime and manga really gives me sing yesterday for me vibes. They're both about a working grown man in his 20's that got rejected by the girl he likes. So he meets a highschool girl and you guessed it their story begins. I highly recommend watching this if you like Hige wo Soru.
