Blood-C

Both essentially feature the same episodic development for the majority of the anime: school life moments -> monsters appear -> extras get dismembered in a veritable fountain of blood, splatter and gore for half the episode -> main characters finally decide to fight monster and win within a few minutes -> wash rinse repeat. Blood-C has a somewhat more sensible ending, not necessarily better though.
Someway, main characters of both titles are forced to challenge inhuman entities that have folkloristic appearances.
Extremely violent massacre of both humans and not humans like a game, too.
Ever growing power and ruthlessness of the enemies with the flow of episodes.
