Both series are set in warring periods of Japan and focus on the complexities of family, tradition, honor, and responsibility of leaders. The lead is at a disadvantage due to others under-estimating their resolve/goals.
Dororo does involve more fantasy/horror elements, but if that doesn't bother you, it is a good follow up to this series.
