Both anime feature a protagonist who tries to be prepared for lots of possible scenarios. Both are very serious individuals who can come off as uncaring when they really are caring. It's similar in the way that both protagonists focus on one thing and whole series is about it. Shinchou Yuusha takes more comedy/parody approach while goblin slayer has much darker theme.

Goblin slayer is seriously the cautious hero without being over exaggerated. both mc got a blonde companion. the actual cautious hero is comedy with a straight face too.
