-Both have the same sad-moody hopeless feel atmosphere to them
-Both have futuristic weird sci-fi settings where humanity has gone in a pretty sad direction on a whole
-There's this constant feeling that things won't really get any better, there isn't any hope left for humanity
-Both have very unique settings that contrast with the cute character designs of the characters, it creates a very unique experience for both
-Both are kind of episodic, with the adventure continuing as the series makes progress, with some connected story bits in there as well

Both shows have a sci-fi setting with an existential theme and tone. Even though Kaiba isn't a slice-of-life it still has a Iyashikei tone with healing aspects to it. The contrast between the helplessness of the world, with the hope that the characters have for the future, creates a sad as well as uplifting feeling. Both have a very unique art style and world that I haven't really seen in other anime, or manga. They each create a feeling of melancholy, in their own ways, that is extenuated by the soundtracks and use of colour. Each show are somewhat episodic, as well as use the
