Both anime have a unique worldview. They have their own philosophy.
Also, they have big educational value - especially Houseki no Kuni.
Both are top-rated (over 8.0) on MAL and have over 100,000 votes.
Most recommendations do like "both have similar..." but you want to see something that catches your eye and you fell in love with.

- Themes of identity and immortality
- Unique but disparate art/animation
- Seemingly alien, yet relatable characters
- Set in the future

These series are quite different but also more similar than you may think.
Phosphophyllite, the youngest of the gems, beings who lose their memories when parts of them break off, searches for a purpose in life and loses themself along the way.
-
Kaiba, a man in a universe where memories are stored in capsules that can be changed or altered easily, has lost his memories and travels across planets gradually recovering the memories of who he once was.
Both of these series cover the topic of how memories make up the structure of what someone is. I recommend both of these masterpieces.
