I'm surprised that no one has made connections between these two shows! Both directed by Hiroko Utsumi (who also directed Free!), both shows have two male protagonists that share instant connections and strong emotional bonds, holding dynamic personalities with each other and the people around them. Yet their strong bonds are put to the test with internal and external forces that makes us root for the success of our lovable duos. With a good balance between their comedy and drama, it's enough for all of us watchers to share the joys and pains alongside our favorite characters.

Banana Fish is really good, but you probably want/need a ''recovery-anime'' ''rebound-anime'' (something like that) after watching Banana Fish.
This is actually a recommendation for that reason, besides from that:
- The storyline is a whole lot different.
- Very similar is the relation between the two main characters (and friends).
I would say..
Banana Fish is more psychological/mafia/action/thriller/(it's listed as B.L. but I don't really think that describes it the best),
and Sk∞ is more like an adventure/friendship/hardship/sports/skating/competition/feel good anime.

Both of these shows are works of the same director, Hiroko Utsumi. The main characters of both animes have almost the same kind of vibe? Their dynamic and personalities are quite similar to each other.
