An extremely specific way of presenting the main characters' opponents with gay camp elements. Deadly threats are presented at once humorously and macabre. Additionally, children are placed in situations that are completely inappropriate for their age.
Both are dense historical fiction battle adventure comedy series with an eccentric, hilarious cast of characters featuring brutally violent conflict, gut-busting gags, and explorations of the culture at play with historical review of how the developments at play fit into the known timeline of events. Elusive Samurai has better visuals and a much stronger introduction, but Golden Kamuy brings a deeper analysis of the relevant culture.

Both anime tell the story of bright and ambitious characters in a historical setting. Humor based on exaggerated stereotypes contrasts with the harsh conditions in which the characters find themselves. Both anime pay attention to the traditions and habits of people who are peculiar to the historical era
