Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu Recommendations
I watched the rising of the shield hero a few years before watching this, and I gotta say Shield Hero was definitely the better anime. I'm just going to refer to The Rising as the Shield Hero as just Shield Hero so it doesn't take as long to type.
They have similar protagonists who don't really give a sht about the world's social hierarchy and devote time into messing it up (However Naofumi, the MC in Shield Hero, does this out of pure hatred to obtain revenge for the crimes that he's suffered, a very interesting coping mechanism in the series when we realize the rest
of the cast are unlikeable a-holes.)
With Leon though, the main character of Trapped in a dating sim (dating sim for short), His stance is more inconsistent and confusing. He constantly wavers between either believing he's not supposed to do anything as he's set to be a background character who doesn't disrupt things, or he goes ahead and tries to make people despise him just for fun.
If you want to see a protagonist like Leon with a more satisfying execution of climbing the steps to reach his goal in a similar Isekai anime setting with a small circle (both animes have like 2 girls with the main character at most so I'll just call it a small circle), you should watch The Rising of the Shield hero.
Leon struggles with accepting the fact that maybe he isn't destined to be a background character but struggles regardless while Naofumi expresses that he's not just going to be a stereotypical hero like everyone else expects him to.
Watch Rising of the Shield hero if you want to see Leon cranked up with a better quality anime along with better writing, watch Trapped in a dating sim if you want to see a Naofumi toned down in a more relaxed setting.
