Both are stories about two girls and their relationship, also, the direction of YagaKimi is inspired by Naoko Yamada's (the director of Liz to Aoi Tori) to an extent i.e. with the focus on body language and specific body parts in telling the story. Furthermore, both use visual metaphor in service of expanding upon the explicit narrative portrayed.

Liz to aoi tori is shoujo ai suggestive and yagate kimi ni naru is a shoujo ai, both are a journey in the discovery of feelings,yagate kimi ni naru its more focused in the romance, the direction maybe are similar the audio is pretty good in both, they have several moments without any music of background. The way who the colours represents feelings etc.
