Similar triangle love story around MC (not including additional ship), similar character personality, same serious (and rather gloomy) atmosphere with occasional humor
just because is far better regardless whose couple you ship because the execution is that good, better character and more enjoyable episodes too
Same atmosphere and tone in both shows. Common between both series is also the light use of music, no over-the-top drama, and a focus on creating realistic (but convoluted) character drama.

They both have the same atmosphere, And they share the relationship of two people who haven't seen each other for a long time and try not to fall in love
"Sing Yesterday To Me" is the series you will get if you take concepts from "Just Because!", reduce the amount of character, make adults think like a high schooler, and make the pacing much slower while still retaining its somewhat of a realistic aspect. For me, the primary similarity they have is that both can provide the same emotion. Presenting a concept in a melodramatic fashion that can really bring in the "feels."
