Both feature an immortal protagonist that loses their memories when they lose a part of themselves, have an immense worldbuilding and... tearjerking, lots of it.
The main character of both shows is an immortal being who has yet to know purpose in life. The journeys these characters undergo showcase how the people and events we encounter can affect us in deep ways, change our perspective, and leave a long lasting impact on who we become.
Land of the Lustrous is more existentialist.
