Both anime follow a group of people with the ultimate aim of radically changing the existing system, eradicating the artistocracy-based system in Moriarty, bringing down the walls - which could even result in the end of the monarchy - in Princess Principal (though in Princess Principal only the 2 main girls are aware of this aim for now, whereas in Moriarty the entire team seems to know it). Also both take place in a 19th century/Victorian England, albeit in Princess Principal the setting is a steampunk one with elements of alternative history.
