Seeing this show go under the radar for many people reminds me a lot of how when Tsuki ga Kirei was airing, it seemed like not many people were talking about it, but it was one of the best character-driven stories of the season. Both shows are understated in art style, dialogue, and soundtrack, and they have realistic and dynamic characters similar to actual people you'd see in high school. If you liked that the mellow storytelling and atmosphere of Tsuki ga Kirei, you'll probably like Hoshiai no Sora.

The two shows are both originals that take place in a middle school setting. The art styles are very similar in aesthetic and mood, done by feel. and 8bit respectively. One is a romance while the other is a sports drama, however, they both have a pretty laidback narrative.
unlike tsuki ga kirei, hoshiai no sora, or stars align, doesn't have any romance aspects. however, both animes have a middle school setting, where they learn more about themselves throughout each series (i can't really word it well but you get the point). also, both do have a sports aspect- tsuki ga kirei mentions track while stars align revolves around a tennis team
