they both have insanely interesting world-building, as well as similar (disastrous) lack of dramaturgy... nevertheless, i guess i'll come back to it in my mind from time to time in the future (gosh, it's somekinda unique guro-aesthetics — mixed with smth religious...)
The beautiful scenery of both of the anime settings hide how terrifying the alien-like nature of these worlds can be. Both the abyss and paradise have curses/poison that causes the loss of humanity and death. The worlds of both of these anime make you fear the unknown, but draw you in to discover the secrets behind the fantastical wilderness of their settings.

Both of these amines have a similar setting and mysterious world building. Hell's Paradise replaces the abyss with a mysterious island that has its origin shrouded in mystery. But Hell's paradise does not follow little kids as the protagonists, and adds some great fight scenes.
If you are turned off by the disturbing scenes and weird fetishes of the author, I know I sure was, I'd go give Hell's Paradise a try. It is a better version of this
