Both have the theme of afterlife to it. Also both series have episodes that are sad
Both stories are based around death.Both main characters spend the majority of the story dealing with trying to figure out how their in a such a confusing situation.Angel Beats is more of a Action and Shigofumi is more of a Mystery.
Both series cover what happens after death and feature stories about regrets.

Death is a regret. Angel Beats! and Shigofumi share similarities of students who are in relation to someone dead becomes a regret to said person's life.
Angel Beats! follows Yuri and the SSS in their revenge against god due to the horrible lives they have lived because of him. Shigofumi is about students who are connected to someone dead, end up with regrets because of that person's death, and their actions because of so.
While Angel Beats! is a light-hearted action-comedy based in school. Shigofumi is a dark psychological thriller.
