Both have similar theme (delusion) although on a very different level So, if you like harem, ecchi, and girls fighting with big swords ChäoS;HEAd is good and if you really looking for other psychological anime with far better execution, no ecchi, and no harem better try SE Lain

Although no echhi charaacters as in chaos head ,but its same about illusionary world becoming reality, and same suspense

One of the best anime in a genres "Sci-Fi" and "Psychological". From here and similarities of protagonists (which consist that they avoid the real world and consequently live in virtual, they have a constant desire to find in a network and as to understand in internal "I"). In both anime it is a lot of riddles and the strange events occuring around of the main characters, (it strange messages come, them confuse in the street, they learn about those things, " which, in their opinion, they did not make ", etc.) and in attempts to understand they all plunges into a chasm of eternal questions   read more

They have completely different plots but both are very phycological and philosophical.

They're the same for all that matters.. Chaos Head is more stylish and modern with wacky characters instead of grim and inexpressive and serious.. If you liked either you'll like the other too! Although some things may feel as if they're just ripped off Lain and combined it with more generic elements.

Certain network events are connected with our main character , where your world begins to distort , questioning his own existence and discovering all that is hidden to the naked eye .

Both shows are very convoluted, and they both show symbolic images to show that. I don't know what to say, but in a way their way, they were haunting.
