What people see is what is accepted to be true. Both Lain and Flamenco deal with this view of truth, and confront their protagonists with the question of which reality they want to live in. If you liked seeing alternation between grounded relationships and surreal phenomena, take this rec.
This recommendation is based on the fact that both series will leave you wondering what on earth is going on 80% of the time. Though, this isn't a bad thing. It's a little bit less so with Samurai Flamenco as things eventually keep getting explained but I've definitely had a few episodes where I've had no idea what in the world is going on at the end.
Both of these are great shows all around and both are worth the watch.
