The themes are exceedingly similar. Though for Munou na Nana, it appears later in the series. Morality is hard to come to terms with for the self-aware mind. Conditioning to dehumanize others is a deep pit to climb out of for reintegration into society.
Why can the viewer forgive evil tasks? Is it because of personal loss of the villian? Government sanction for their crimes? Time passed? Character growth? Change of heart? Good deeds?
If you are seeking catharsis from cheering on a (cute) villain, or seeing character growth no matter the cost, then Violet Evergarden, or Monou na Nana is for you.
