While fundamentally different in purpose and tone (Majo no Tabitabi being a moody achronological adventure narrative within a medieval fantasy and Violet Evergarden being a drama-driven episodic story within a steampunk bohemian setting), both series have a similar interactive atmosphere and episodic storytelling where the main heroines meet and interact with other people and places throughout their journeys. At first glance it would seem this shows have nothing in common, one about a girl that was raised for war, lost not only her limbs but her very humanity and now is trying to learn how to be a normal person and adapt to a peacefull society and the other is about a happy go lucky young witch starting her journey.
But both shows have a simmilar atmosphere, episodic nature where the protagonists met new people and we get to know their stories, their past and their present wich can be depending on the episode a happy story, a sad one or a bitter sweet

Female protagonist goes on a journey. The MCs personality may differ, but the stories still showed similar atmosphere. They did the same regarding on how they portrayed the beauty of human bonds, but also giving us endings that can go either way, be it a happy and sweet one or a sad/dark, depresing kind.
Both are about the MC going around to see other people's lives. The only difference might be that Violet is about finding the meaning of love, whereas Majo no Tabi Tabi is about finding how cruel the world is.
- Both anime are "episodic", which means our MC will go to a different place and meets different people
- The episodes in Violet Evergarden are happy, sad and heartwarming, while the ones in Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina can be light-hearted, but sometimes really dark
- Both MC are interesting and have their own charm
