Both are stories about how a man comes to terms living with a new "pet", and how it affects both their lives. Similar style of comedy as well.
This two anime are very similar wherein both MC lost their parents, then they met a cute partner/companion (A cat and in the other one is a Tanuki which has the ability to shapeshift into a cute kid.). Both anime also show where the companion was able to make the MC remember something they have/should have done when their parents are still alive. Both have same conclusion (almost) wherein the MCs have grown in mind.
