Same genres - Adventure & Fantasy - and i think the characters are pretty similar.
In both series, there is the theme of fantasy involving swords, magic, and power. As such, there is conquest of achieving a certain goal for both the main protagonist from both series.
Both series' main female protagonist are strong, talented, independent, and has the will to fight whatever comes in their way. She also has an interesting relationship with the main male protagonist as the series progresses.
Both series deals with conquest so there are obstacles in their way as well as antagonists.
Both series also has a lot of action during some of the battles.
