Both of these anime deal with the psycosis of the mind, paranoia, problems with how people mentally think, as a good deal of the characters have some sort of problem with themselves or other people around them, coming from having some sort of mental problem that needs to be fixed. Of course... the way the problems are fixed varies in the two shows.

Paranoia Agent's numerous cast is also made up of very varied people interconnected with one another and each suffering of a particular mental ailment. The series explores deep into their psyches, if in a way less obvious manner than Kuchu Buranko while building up a compelling paranormal plot.

Problems in modern society (but not exclusively japanese) presented through unconventional means. Some degree of artistic freedom taken with the looks as well as the story structure - the seemingly epsiodic stories interwine, creating one, big picture at the end. Paranoia agent, though very much character based, is more about the public portrait, while Trapeze doesn't sway a lot from diving into individual personalities. Great deal of fun, metaphors obvious enough to be rather accessible and a break form the usual is what one will, in all likelihood, find in those two.

Both... ...are very episodic, focusing on different characters each episode. ...delve into the psyche of various people with mental health issues. ...give great insight into psychology. ...are rather trippy and weird. While Paranoia Agent is more of a dark mystery, Trapeze is much brighter and upbeat. Paranoia Agent features more standard visuals, but eventually becomes very trippy and confusing. Trapeze features very dazzling and weird visuals, but doesn't get too weird story-wise. While episodic, Paranoia Agent has a central mystery that is solved in the end. Trapeze's episodes are all interconnected via little character or background moments, there is no overarching story. It also has quite a few comedic moments.

Both of the series are episodic and each episode, the mc changes, focusing on their mental problems. Usually by the end of the episode, the mcs' problems are fixed with the help of the character that the show revolves around. Both are very unique animes although Paranoia agent has more of a mystery and a thriller vibe wheras kuuchuu buranko has an upbeat and a colorful vibe.

- Episodic formula, each episode focus on a different character; - All the events are connected in some way or another; - Uses surreal visuals to tell their stories and emphasize the madness of the situation; - Focus on personal struggle, characters getting close to their breaking point and the need to face their problems. - Both get very absurd at times;
