From the more realism-lenient art style and chaotic opening, to the many questions posed by their concepts, both series (at least so far for Kokkoku) carry a very similar atmosphere.

Both Mousou Dairinin and Kokkoku have an understated surrealistic tone that shines through the story. Mousou Dairinin has a less cohesive plot (where-as Kokkoku has a concise, and extant, plot), but similar stylistic elements (artistically in particular) that help emphasize an "uncanny" feel.
the psyche of various characters when brought together affects the plot at the same time
