Both series have a smart male MC, and heavily focus on strategic magical warfare.
If you enjoy somewhat realistic magical battles, where strategy is more important than numbers or individual magic powers, then you will enjoy these series.
Both protagonists are thrown into roles they're not prepared for but performed splendidly in. They both has military elements mixed in and interesting insights on how they run their respective kingdoms. The latter is criminally underrated so this hidden gem is a must watch for military anime enthusiasts.
