It is not that 3-gatsu is a Romance Comedy, but there is just something about the mood that is similar. Both Kiriyama from 3-gatsu and Miyamura from Horimiya had a history of being alone. We see character development in both where they grow out of their bubbles and find people who care. There is just a warm and wholesome feeling in both animes.

So we have our sad boy male protag. He meets happy girl protag. However happy girl has a secret and so does sad boy. Their time together saves sad boy from self-loathing. In the end sad boy becomes a better person and we all feel fulfilled as the show comes to a close.
