Both have very well-developed characters and psychological themes. Both also present themselves as a type of genre but turn out to be something else deeper.
It's sad. They start innocently; dwell into insanity, at a such young age. It makes for a good story, at least, presenting if such was a possibility in this reality. People slowly descend the ladder due to internal struggles unique to us all, with stories and secrets we would not otherwise have first thought of.
