Isekai. The common drill, MC finds themself in a new world.
Since tropes are common, I will focus on differences. The main one being the placement of the two MCs. In Overlord, Ainz is quite literally the most powerful being, borderline worshipped as a god too, compared to MT with a start-up run-of-the-mill Rudeus who starts his life from the bottom and tries to work his way up the ladder.
Would like to point out how Overlord and MT both do a good job with smart characters getting an understanding of this newfound large world and using that to their advantage for the wish they pursue.

outstanding writing. great focus on the (new) world that the story plays in.
Both are anime of the same genre (isekai), contain a brilliant story line, with good fights, great characters and good worldbuilding.
I recommend it to anyone who likes the genre, because in addition to personally liking it a lot, they have similar themes. (but I say now that mushoku tensei is better :D)
