Both are slice-of-life comedies focusing mainly on the lives of those living in one particular household. Both have a predominantly female cast though with a few important male characters. Also there is a male character in both shows who must cross-dress in order to be allowed into the household where the women live. A difference between them would be that Kuragehime actually has a plot and romantic progression, while Minami-ke focuses more on day-to-day activities and never advances the romance aspects.
