GA has more comedy than Sketchbook, but they both are still very similar. Both shows are about a fairly normal girl surrounded by odd people in her art class. GA is kind of like the middle ground between Sketchbook and Hidamari, so if you liked those, you'll probably like GA.
Both based on 4koma with similar genres and premise - the lives of kids interested in art.

Both of them are related to art and take place in school. GA seems to be even more art focused. If you love art then you should check it out.

Two slice of life anime's centering the use of art.
Despite Sketchbook having art in, it's used more in the sense as a way of life rather than art as a subject. GA on the other hand teaches a fair bit on art in general and is pretty educational if you don't know too much about art.
Character personalities can be quite similar in both, for example with Sora in Sketchbook and Kisaragi in GA, both of which are very timid MC's.
There is the use of cats to accentuate the cute vibes in both but Sketchbook has a lot more of that compared to GA.
