It’s remarkable and a blessing that such refreshingly unique anime movies can share so many similarities. Loveable low-life protagonist buddies on the run after trouble finds them, modern seedy urban setting, badass action scenes driven by aggressive electronic soundtracks that make you lean forward in your seat with a smile on your face, bizarre characters and plot elements, violence nudity and language worthy of an R-rating, and most of all, excellent animation and pure style that throw all anime tropes and conventions out the window.
