Although worlds apart with Black Clover's focus on magic and with food being at the heart of Shokugeki no Souma, both anime intertwine a core message of hard work and never giving up. Both shows are set in a school competition type setting (Black Clover does not have a school but a magic knight's organisation, it gives the same sense though) with constant battles/food wars in order for the MC to perservere and achieve their goals (Wizard King/first seat on the elite ten).
